In this life, evil may seem to prevail, but there is a day coming that the Lord will right all the wrongs of this life. His rule will prevail across the entire world, and righteousness will become the characteristic of the day, and in this there is hope for the believer. In saying that: What is it like to be in a relationship with one who is infinitely wise and just? Often God allows a startling event to awaken His people, and it is often His gracious way of telling us to shape up, or something worse will happen. Our only rightful place before the true God is to be in the position of humble dependence and single minded devotion. Our place is to seek Him will all our hearts, for in Him alone are the riches of life. We should come to Him desperate to listen, to learn, and to follow. Yes, a real relationship with God will be quite unreal by comparison to any mere human relationship.

There is a missing element in today’s preaching. We have at large lost the sense of what it means to grieve the infinitely loving heart of our Savior by transgressing the royal law of love. We have failed to consider that sin breaks fellowship with our heavenly father, cuts us off from the power of the indwelling Spirit, and blights our spiritual lives. We have utterly lost an awareness of the heinousness of sin. The calamities that God graciously allows us to experience are more that worthwhile if they drive us to our knees. We would pray more if we felt our dependence on the Lord more acutely. The message for us: “Awake thou that sleepest, and rise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light” (Eph. 5:14).

We all have different dreams and ideas of what we want to create for our lives. To me success is an ongoing process of striving of becoming more. For most of the world reliance on reason is the best course of action for the future. In fact, a large part of that is true, because many of the differences in our lives all come down to the way in which we communicate with ourselves and the actions we take. The successful do not have fewer problems than people who fail. The only people without problems are those in cemeteries. It is not what happens to us that separates failures from successes, it is how we perceive it and what we do about what happens that makes the difference. What a person believes and what he thinks is possible or impossible determines a great deal in what he can or cannot do. There is an old saying ‘What you believe you can do, or you believe you can’t, you’re right.’

The Bible begins by “In the beginning God…” The author takes for granted that God exists, and it surely it is one thing to believe in God, totally another to personally trust in God to meet your deepest needs. To trust in God means to lean on Him, feeling totally safe and confident. It is to place your expectations, hopes and desires in the care of the Lord. In short, He is the unchanging Rock of refuge and security. The world all around us is in total flux, but God has endured throughout all generations and is a refuge to all who come to trust in Him. In Him one finds the source of deep assurance in the midst of the storms of life.We are so easily deceived by mere appearances, yet the eye of faith must seek to look beyond just the surface. Those who rely of mere appearances will invariably find themselves confounded. Human reason attempts to predict, anticipate, and infer relationships between events, but we are to trust in the Lord with all our hearts. Only God can adequately discern our future path that will lead us into the future. We must remember that regardless of how we feel, our emotional life is centered in the presence of God. It is only proper to praise and trust the Lord despite our afflictions, and indeed suffering itself presents an invitation to come before God in prayer. (James 1:13) When we are afflicted, troubled, or in any kind of pain, we have enormous opportunity to glorify our Father in Heaven by offering Him our praise.
